THE FESTIVAL D’OPÉRA DE QUÉBEC 2013:
THE SUCCESSFUL RESULT OF GREAT COLLABORATIONS

Québec, Wednesday August 7, 2013 – This morning Messrs. Gaston Déry and Grégoire Legendre, respectively President and General and Artistic Director of the Opéra de Québec, unveiled to the media the positive results of this year’s Festival at the Grand Théâtre de Québec and presented some of the highlights of this year’s programming. The 2013 edition established a new attendance record with approximately 19,500 festival goers: its first year saw more than 16,000 attendees and the second over 17,500. Gaston Déry said, “Yet again, the Festival d'opéra demonstrated that the population of Québec appreciates both quality events and opera.”

This edition of the Festival involved the largest number of collaborators and artisans to date and saw the birth of several new collaborations, it being the ideal opportunity to initiate several fascinating projects with partners such as: the Metropolitan Opera, the New York City Opera*, the Ville de Québec, the Grand Théâtre de Québec, the Capitole de Québec*, Ex Machina, the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, the Musée de la civilisation, the Palais Montcalm - Maison de la musique, Les Grands Feux Loto-Québec*, Première Ovation, and TFO (Télévision Francophone de l'Ontario).*
